Doughnut fundraiser ongoing
We are almost two weeks into the Leopard Laps program, and things are going great so far! Nearly 100 kids walked at least once in the first week, and several have already passed the 5-mile mark. Kindergarteners through fourth graders can get laps in every morning that it’s not raining—just find Randi Jennings or the other parent volunteers out by the green top behind the school starting at 7:30 a.m. If you’d like to find out how you can help, just talk to Randi, or send her an email.
Our next PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the Johnson Cafeteria. If you cannot attend in person but would like to witness the splendor and glory that is a PTO meeting under the Jordan/McKinley regime, you will be able to join us remotely, here. We will have childcare and free food and we look forward to hearing your thoughts on anything Johnson Elementary-related.
The 2024 Bingo Night and Silent Auction is set for Friday, March 22. The auction is our biggest and most important fundraiser of the year, and we simply cannot do it without your help. Please email Laura Jordan at laurajordan23@gmail.com to find out how you can help make this event a success.
Laura says “fresh ideas, big dreams, and a sense of humor are all you need,” but the sense of humor thing is pretty clearly optional, based on previous and ongoing experience with this organization, not to mention so subjective as to be rendered meaningless as a work requirement—and, really, if you’re fronting your own sense of humor as a qualification, I, uh, have my doubts. Further, if you are literally already dreaming big about the 2024 PTO Silent Auction, you might consider reevaluating priorities a bit—perhaps taking a walk, doing some light reading—but who am I to judge? As for “fresh ideas,” I’ll simply say that both “Paintball Battle Royale in the gym” and “Principal Mickens Jumps a School Bus Over 20 Motorcycles” were two pretty good and “fresh” ideas met with harsh skepticism and immediate, forceful rejection, so maybe don’t color outside the lines too much.
All you really need to help us make the Bingo Night and Silent Auction work is a willingness to sacrifice a little bit your of time, attention, and effort. Please do reach out!
The school clinic / nurse’s office is looking for clothing donations. Specifically, new or gently-used size 5/6 boys pants, size 5/6/small long-sleeve boys shirts, and size small boys underwear would all be greatly appreciated and put to immediate use. Please drop at the school office or bring it to the November 14 PTO meeting.
Finally, please keep in mind that our Krispy Kreme fundraiser is still happening! Every time you order a dozen doughnuts at this link, the PTO gets some cash. The kids have a four-day weekend coming up—maybe some doughnuts to go with all that Halloween candy is in order? That’s a good idea, right? Don’t worry, with the time changing on Saturday night, we’ll all have an extra hour to burn/sleep it all off.
Have a great day!
