Reference ParentSquare message from Mr. Kronstain on 5/6/25
John McGuire letter
Concern about the defunding of the Department of Education (HR 899)
We distributed an email to families with a letter to Congressman McGuire.
We would love more signatures from any adults who agree with the message in the letter. You do not have to be a Johnson Elementary parent to sign it. If you agree, share it!
We shared the letter with the other PTOs in the city so they can solicit signatures as well.
Could we take a letter to his office? Would that have a greater impact?
Ask the direct question: How is Congressman McGuire going to guarantee that the same amount of funding will be coming to our school if the DOE is defunded?
Field Days are coming up!
5/22 2nd - 4th grade
5/23 PreK - 1st grade needs more volunteer signups
Dance Party with Sunset Slush recap
Great event!
Really liked Sunset Slush!
Many children wanted more than one serving.
Do we charge for a second serving or solicit donations for a second one?
The event being active was great for our more introverted children.
No request for more programming at the event.

Ms. Chambers: Teachers are so appreciative of this support.
Citywide PTO Fund
PTO representatives from all elementary, middle, and high schools
We are working to bring back a citywide fund (similar to what was created in COVID, but with slight differences).
This will be a tool to solicit donations from larger corporations. Donations would go into a large citywide pot and then divided amongst the schools based on student enrollment.
