9/19/23
Introductions

Ms Croce and Ms Durrer (Teacher reps)
Mission is to support teachers, staff, students, families and we are family and all are part of PTO by being here
Open positions: Secretary (notes during meetings) and Community Outreach (talking to restaurants/orgs/fundraising)
Fall Picnic: Oct 17 with Oct XX (Tuesday) rain date
Volunteer opportunities:
Setup/break down
Hotdog griller
Cake walk caller/ other games
Bring a cake
Look for sign up genius
Morning Mile – Randi Jennings
Get kids moving – emotional regulation
Every morning on the upper greentop
Study outcomes were positive (incident reports decreased, grades improved, kids responded positively, school climate, better sleep)
Scanner with lap QR code, more intrinsically motivated
Need volunteers for 7:20-7:50 (1 day/week, etc)
Will work out logistics so everyone can participate
Anyone can do it whenever
Ms Rickabaugh – PBL to be community changers, look around and find something to be improved; their idea – sidewalk area in back when it rains gets covered in mud; written letters to Dr G., SB, mayor, Parks and Rec; ADA issue, more voices we have, the more we have voices, the safer it can be. This is for awareness and to be kid-driven
Refrigerators are awesome, teachers feel loved and appreciated, and our well-being
Ms Mickens – city has to fix it; JV neighborhood assn- called everyone (don’t know who it belongs to)
Change Challenge: raise funds, update tomorrow
Sunshine committee: would like a helper, sign up genius, organizer, ideas, helpers
Parent Square: updates/posts for PTO
Treasurer update:
Contributions (hammocks, GOTR scholarships, SOL snacks, fridges, Pie Guy, popsicles, teacher reimbursements > $5K, mulch, coffee, meals during pre-week, etc)
Fundraising does all of this
Ms Mickens:
SOL (22-23): reading – met but not with all subgroups (i.e. black, SWD); math – met but with not all subgroups (i.e., black, SWD, eco disadv)
How to help increase SWD and Black s. (PLCs to focus on this)
Last year Title 1 PLC: literacy, math, learning/success criteria
Title 1 Survey (n = 32)
Some parents don’t know what is being taught (curriculum)
Most noticed improvements, all felt school replied, robocalls/emails etc
Most feel involved (but not all)
Title 1 Plan Due in Oct
Family events, fund 1-2 part-time interventionists for math/ reading, purchase materials for interventions; books during fall festival, math night, Elephant and Piggie book 1st grade event
Will share title 1 plan
Questions/Comments/Ideas:
Ms Flowers – representing the specials team; would like volunteers, book fair/checkout/set up materials, etc
Branson – as ell population grows, think about how to be inclusive with restaurants, cake/treat walk
