It's Not Really the New Year Until the First PTO Update

This is the boring and strictly informative version of this email. It is very boilerplate and includes only the relevant information, delivered efficiently and with minimal personality, in just three quick paragraphs all shorter than this one, because even here, in an excuse-making aside about why this isn’t one of THOSE emails, it is in very serious danger of suddenly becoming one of THOSE emails. The longer, meandering version got lost in some very weird metaphysical questions about time—the human instinct to track it and name it and own it, among other digressions—that have no place here, or in polite company anywhere. We thank you for your patience.
The Johnson Elementary PTO will have its first meeting of 2024 this coming Tuesday evening, January 16, at 6:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Please do come! Bring your questions, concerns, and ideas to the meeting because the PTO exists to serve you and the school in whatever way we can. We’ll have food! And grown-up conversation on any topic you desire, because someone will be there to watch your kids in another room. And we will be unveiling a new PTO Board Member!
Also happening next week, the first ever 4th Grade Sneaker Ball will take place on Friday, January 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The cafeteria will be transformed into a disco—with music, dinner, activities, and treats for all the 4th graders who can make it out. The event will be chaperoned, so feel free to just drop your 4th grader off and leave them to party away the evening for a couple of hours.
That’s about all we’ve got going on at the moment. Rest assured that we’ll be reaching out soon with requests for help for a variety of activities and events, including our big fundraiser, the annual Silent Auction and Bingo Night. Looking forward to seeing everybody on Tuesday night!
