Coffee with the Principal Redux: A Second Cup of JoJo
The caffeine cavalry is coming to a bus stop near you.
We live in the age of the sequel. The remake and the reboot. A time of taking popular things and running them into the ground until it’s hard to remember what you even liked about them in the first place. There have been 23 different number one movies so far this year—all but one of them is either a sequel, part of a larger “cinematic universe,” based on a beloved game or toy from our collective youth, or all of the above. (The first person to comment on this post on Substack what the lone exception is will win a fabulous* prize.)
The point here is, your friendly neighborhood PTO is not immune to the sort of questionable thinking that landed a seventh Transformers movie in theaters this summer, for better or for worse. And given the wild success of last Friday’s coffee event, it was all but inevitable that the powers that be would demand more of the same.
So come on out this Friday morning, September 1, from 7:15 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. and meet Principal Mickens at the bus stop near Greenstone on 5th, by Prospect Ave and Crossover. We’ll have free coffee and pastries and plenty of time for everyone to chat with our wonderful new principal. We hope to see you out there!
Sources familiar with the thinking of Principal Mickens and the Johnson Elementary PTO have informed us to expect an unprecedented third coffee/principal event next Friday morning, as well. A trilogy is in the works, as they say.
*PRIZE is not fabulous. The prize is an old Johnson Elementary bumper sticker or a large circular car magnet, winner’s choice.

Knock at the Cabin! (Does it count if I used wikipedia?)
