Brief PTO News and Notes
We're in the home stretch of the school year--what's left?!
Five Guys Fundraiser April 16
FREE Kona Ice & PTO Dance Party April 30
Bounce House Fundraiser
Five Guys Fundraiser on April 16, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
The Five Guys in the Barracks Road shopping center has generously agreed to partner with your friendly neighborhood PTO to help us raise some money. If you order for dine-in or take-out on Tuesday evening, April 16, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and tell them that you’re there in support of Johnson Elementary, they will donate 20 percent of your order cost right back to us.
We can even tell you exactly where the money we raise from this fundraiser will go. The PTO is going to turn over all proceeds from this fundraiser to Principal Mickens so that she can help make sure that every Johnson fourth grader gets a yearbook. The yearbook is a new tradition for our school and we’re excited to help get it going.
Free Kona Ice & PTO Dance Party on April 30, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
In our experience, only three things are necessary for a truly spectacular party. First, obviously, you need shaved and flavored ice. Second, a wide-open dance floor and some thumping tunes. Third, and most importantly, the party must also provide the opportunity to participate in the great civic exercise of listening to the PTO people talk about PTO things. What else does a great party really need? (Don’t answer that.)
On Tuesday, April 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the PTO will be hosting our first ever green-top dance party at Johnson Elementary School. The Kona Ice truck will be on site for everyone to get an absolutely FREE Kona Ice treat, and we’ll have a DJ set up on the green-top providing the family-friendly jams necessary to get everybody out and jumping on the dance floor. Bring a picnic dinner or some snacks and enjoy an evening of shaved ice and community!
And as an added bonus—towards the end and well off to the side, where we can be safely ignored—we’ll have a brief PTO meeting wherein we will beg and plead for volunteers to join our ranks. We’re still looking to fill a board position or two for next year, and are always on the lookout for challengers to our seats.1
Free Kona Ice! A DJ on the green top! Seriously! Come out on April 30!
Bounce House Fundraiser
Fourth grade teacher Mrs. Rickabaugh has organized a fundraiser, and the PTO is here to help. From the flyer that you’ll see in your kid’s backpack soon:
Help Us Bounce and Play into Field Day!
We are challenging the students to raise money to buy a brand new bounce house. The bounce house will be used for future events as well. It will stay with us. Each class will compete to see who can bring in the most money. The top 2 classes will get extra time in a bounce house on Field Day!
Here is the best part!
The PTO will MATCH the funds the school raises. This will start on Monday, April 15th and run until Friday April 26th. You can use Venmo or send cash with your child. Please write down your child’s name and class to get credit. Thank you so much!
Don’t forget to include your kid’s name and class in the memo field!
Challengers will be dispatched forthrightly, or perhaps just handed the keys.
