Why we’re here.
The Tall Oaks PTO is grounded in supporting our teachers and families, cultivating a strong sense of community and providing enriching experiences that help our students thrive- both in and out of the classroom.
We do this by raising funds for field trips, classroom supplies, scholarships for extracurriculars, school events and teacher appreciation!
Who we are.
All parents of Tall Oaks students and members of the Tall Oaks staff are welcome and encouraged to participate. The PTO matters—and succeeds—only insofar as we represent the feelings, opinions, and ideas of our diverse community. Johnson’s motto is “we are family”—and our family thrives with the participation and contributions of us all.
We are who shows up. We are who raises their voice from a unique perspective and with a new idea. We are remade and refreshed every year as new families join our community.
What we do.
The PTO organizes fundraisers, school outreach opportunities, and seasonal community engagement events in support of our mission. Our primary fundraiser is the Silent Auction and Bingo Night, held in March. We also raise funds via the in-school Change Challenge, and are always accepting donations. Ahem.
Where does the money go?
The funds raised by the PTO are used to help Tall Oaks teachers fill their classrooms with whatever they need to help our kids thrive in school. This might take the form of supplies, books, or games—usually, it means replenishing the crucial classroom snack inventory. We also spend money on our annual fall picnic and another community event in the spring. Dance party on the green-top, anyone?
